So u wanna make a map? Well depending on how well your patients are will determine if you enjoy this or not. (NOTICE!!! This is very important or ull f up your map and ull have to re-install tribes, not fun. Make a copy of the .mis and .dsc files. Witch is found in c:\dynamix\tribes\base\misions folder. Do this BEFORE you start editing)

Ok.. here we go!


Step 1: Once you have copied the .mis and .dsc files out of the folder I would paste them on your desktop(they will only be there for a couple seconds. Rename both of them to the map name you want DO NOT PUT ANY SPACES!! Next copy them back into the folder they came from.

Step 2: go and host your own server and make sure you put a password on it so ppl dnt come in and bother you. The next thing you have to do is Hit the Key above the tab button ( looks like this ~ ) This will bring up the server window, basically the guts of the server.

Step 3: Type in exec(editor);
You must type that xcact thing or it will give u a syntax

Step 4: Now hit the ~ key again and you will notice that your screen has changed a bit. This is your editor mode. Step 5: Ok now your wondering what to do from here. Basically it is up to you on how you want your map to look like. But I have went to the liberty of making a list of commands for you so you wont be completely lost. :)







COMMANDS

MOUSE

Left button-- select

Right button(hold--) Rotate view

Ctrl left-- Move vertically--

Alt left-- y axis

Shift left-- rotate on z axis

Cap lock-- move vertically


KEYBOARD STUFF

1-9 -- moving speed

f 1-- hide options

f 2-- objects info.

f 3-- creator

f 4-- terrain mode

f 5-- back to normal mode

f6-f8-- not used

f 9-- help

moving is the same as walking in the game
(w forward, a left, d is right ect…)

E-- straight up

C-- straight down

~ -- open/hide server info

Ctrl z-- undo

Ctrl delete-- delete an object

Well that is the basic stuff that will get you going, just play around with it, it takes time to learn how to do stuff but once you get the hang of it, it is really addicting. Have fun!!
