Purpose: This document provides a summary overview of notable periods and events
in the history of our Corporation. It is expected that the executive will
gain an enhanced understanding of the role Unitech has played in the progress
of Humankind. Indeed, it will be readily apparent that the contributions of
Unitech have been vital to the ascent of modern humanity.
Circa 2100
North American Prefecture (NAP) emerges from the chaos of the
Devastation with New Chicago among the influential city-state subsidiaries.
2213
New Chicago subsidiary Kapon Technologies acquires TowerTechnical and several
smaller companies, merging to form the United Technology subsidiary.
2450
The NAP Lunar Colony program is announced. UT is chosed as a sub-contractor.
Space-related research rapidly gains prominence within the corporation.
2482
The first UT facilities are established in the Asteroid Belt. Mining is
now a core business.
2487
In partnership with NAP Milicorp, UT establishes the United Technology HERC
Training Academy to offer military and mining pilot training programs.
2501
A team of UT scientists and engineers led by Sera Adler announces several key
breakthroughs that contribute significantly to accelerating the rate of terraforming
the Venus environment. Habitation should now be possible within 5 years.
2585
UT sponsored competitor, Rathan "Striker" Jordan, caps a brilliant season
with victories over Lyca "Blood Fist" Vladinov and Waller "Dipstick" Duggan
to emerge as the 2585 Battledrome Champion. His Hammer HERC is made a
featured exhibit in the Corporate Tower.
2602
The Fire. UT almost ceases to exist. Contact with off-world mining colonies
and other facilities is lost. Manufacturing and research facilities are destroyed.
CHQ suffers extensive damage. A small remnant of Directors trapped in New Chicago
maintain records and hold meetings, presiding over a "virtual" corporation.

2644
The Directorship is reformed. CHQ is fully restored. The new Corporate Assembly
unanimously votes to change the company name to "United Endeavors, Inc."
The Academy is also rebuilt (opening in '47) as Endeavor Military Academy with the
motto "Instilling Honor and Duty in the youth of today and the leaders of tomorrow."
2652
Lord Chairman Detka attends the coronation of Petresun I as Emperor of the Great
Human Empire.
2702
Lord Daye-Li elevated to the Chairmanship and confirmed by the Board as CEO.
The "Reclaim our Heritage" program is initiated with the issuance of
Corporate Edict HM98-8\20 that directs the restablishment of research and
manufacturing centers, the restoration of mining colony contact, and the
reclaimation of all owned assets according to preserved corporate records.
The Directors approve a name change; we are to be known as "Unitech".
2740
Unitech's return to technical prominence has been swift. Rivals are consistently
defeated in bids to obtain major TDF supply contracts. The Corporation's influence
and stature within NAP is even greater now than before the Fire.
2759
For the first time in its history, the Unitech HERC Command Academy makes its way
to the IronGrid to face perennial champions Gierling Academy. The intense game is
decided only in the final seconds. Before a record holovid audience, the
'Unicorns' upset the 'Gearheads', 5 flags to 4, and claim the Emperor's Cup.
UHCA's advanced curriculum has a solid foundation in such primary works as
"The Way of the HERC" by Tola and Gierling's "Principles of Command".
UHCA is proud to have among its graduates some of the finest commanders in the Empire.
2770
In response to the Fortress Earth Proclamation issued by the Emperor, Unitech
restructures the Weapon Systems division and numerous other manufacturing subsidiaries
for increased production. Production targets for material resource divisions are also
significantly increased.
2791
For the first time, the annual financial plan passed by the Corporate Assembly
downgrades off-world investment prospects. It also contains provisions to trim
excess expenditures from material resource division budgets in order to produce
a more efficient operating environment.
2800
Several charismatic leaders take advantage of the opportunity to exploit
Europa miners during the emotionally charged climate of centenial celebrations.
The "All-or-Nothing" strike begins which impacts the operations of
Unitech among others. Equipment sabotage and mysterious deaths of several
corporate officials occur. The unrest ends only when the Imperial Security Arm
finally intervenes. Unfortunately, there are a number of miner casualties.
However, reports of several summary executions for insurrection are unconfirmed.
Records of relevant Board meeting minutes during this time period have been sealed
[UniDir 2.14.29].
2829
Careful preparations are made to insure that Unitech
facilities are prepared to survive a Cybrid assault.
However, most are destroyed early in the Siege. A few
small factories do remain in production supplying the
war effort until near the end of the conflict. 18% of
the Corporate Assembly ultimately survives.
2900
Unitech labs attempting to use existing materials to produce components incorporating
Master Technology (MasTech) designs have had limited results in both quality and
quantity. Yet enough can be produced to significantly increase the scope of human
expansion into space.
Though MasTech has religious significance to some, it is more commonly considered
to simply be the pre-eminent technology of our time.
2917
The Empire launches a series of Unitech-designed space probes to explore beyond the
range of the Long Patrol. The EAGLE probes continually seek out Cybrid presence
as Humanity slowly pushes out into space
3000
The Fourth Millenium finds Unitech steadily continuing its ascent in power
and scope. Three centuries of relentless acquisition have created a consortium with
few equals in the Empire. The wide range of operations covered by so many divisions
and holding companies present certain management challenges, and special teams of
"trouble-shooters" (SpecOps) reporting to the Directors are regularly dispatched to
deal with particular sensitive issues and trouble zones.
UT labs are among the leaders in analysis and limited reproduction of Master
Technology (MasTech), which continues to serve as the source and foundation
for most state-of-the-art development.
3114
A new series of space probes is launched utilizing "second generation"
BioDerms produced by the Unitech Geneering Division. Capable of more advanced
tasks than previous models, they are well suited to endure the monotony and
isolation of long-duration space flight. These Derms literally become one with
their craft as well-established preservation technology keeps their bodies alive.
3238
Deep space probes reveal the existence of a new compound in highly localized
pockets on a number of distant planets. Unreproducible by known technology,
this alloy of heavy metals and rare, trans-uranic elements is discovered to
have properties very similar to the original materials used in the devices
first discovered on Mars in 2826. The alloy is not naturally occurring and therefore
is assumed to be "alien" in origin. Harvesting and refining of the alien ore
will finally allow us to realize the full potential of MasTech and provide
mass production capability.
3239
Granting of Imperial Charter for deep space exploitation.
Granting of ZEUS class-A license for the MSI, which is brought on-line to direct
UT MilitiaCorps operations.
3245
Initial UT remote starbase installations are established. Unitech Science Facility
announces the first of the "third generation" BioDerm projects. This program seeks
to develop models with the enhanced situational awareness and reflexes required in
a combat environment. UT scientists are confident that they can overcome the
stability and longevity challenges presented by the new BGM technology.
3246
A Cybrid raid on Mos Einar initiates active hostilities. Samples of Base Genetic
Matrix are stolen and traces of Prometheus code are discovered in Cybrids downed
by security forces. Cybrids are found to be actively harvesting the alien ore.
3250
BioDerm development advances rapidly in a strange symbiosis of Unitech and Cybrid
research. Captured Derms and BGM allow each side to build on the other's work.
Despite unfortunate incidents at Mos Orsini, Mos Parda, and Mox Imril; BioDerm
research and experimentation produces a number of exceptional combat units.
3255
Unitech MilitiaCorp Intelligence launches an investigation of the MSI suspecting
that it may have been compromised by Cybrid contact. Within a year, sufficient
evidence is presented to the Executive Council for it to rule that the MSI
is indeed "unreliable", and appropriate measures are sanctioned. While isolation
operations fail to contain the program, download logs do allow Mil-Int to eventually
determine the location of the base of Cybrid operations. (ref. UniReport 85:50:16)
3258
A UTMC strike force from the Mox Taans base assaults the Cybrid facility on
Gehenna in the M138 system, believed to be the location of the Cybrid central
command. The facility is destroyed, and presumably the Cybrid command entity
(Prometheus Prime) as well. Cybrid presence in known space evaporates.
3259
Imperial Enterprise Commision rates Unitech as "A1" investment grade.
Our substantially reduced security requirements lead to a drawdown in MilitiaCorp
funding and produce significant cost savings. Many HERC commanders are retired or
transitioned into different areas of the business.
3260
Our postion as the dominant consortium seems unassailable.
Unitech has found increasing favor among conservative Imperial investors. Their
influence now guides the Corporate Assembly which has adopted a prudent policy of
asset preservation. Moderate to high-risk ventures no longer find support and
research budgets are trimmed to return more revenue to profit-centers. USF
eliminates funding for Project:ICEHAWK.
3270
The elimination of the Cybrid threat has allowed weaker competitors the freedom to
explore and expand operations, while Unitech has remained focused on exploiting
existing corporate holdings. Talented HERC commanders, scientists, and executives
are now being targeted for acquisition by our competitors, and the disloyal among
them have been lured away by lucrative offers.
3280
The more aggressive of our competitors have begun to challenge Unitech directly for
planetary systems and mining rights. The substantial bureaucracy that replaced the
MSI has experienced difficulty in improving our security posture to deal with the
elevated threat level. It also appears that pre-eminence in weapons and Bioderm
research may have shifted to foreign corporations. The Board of Directors is finding
its greatest challenge in holding onto various subsidiaries targeted for take-over
by other consortiums. They emphasize the need for all divisions to work together to
maintain revenue levels.
3289
Facing the need for drastic measures, the Corporate Assembly replaces a number of
Directors. A "Galactic Transfer Conduit" has been discovered in the Typhoeus system
and with it an opportunity to reclaim leadership for Unitech. Increased funding for
rearmament is approved, and the Typhoeus Operations planning committee is established.
3291
A former HERC commander is appointed General Manager for the Typhoeus Project and the
operations facility comes online. Heavy resistance from our competitors is expected
as we attempt to sieze control, but the Board has confidence that success may be
achieved with only moderate risk. Our executive talent and advanced technology will surely
once again launch Unitech to the pinacle of corporate power.
